Many people now choose to arrange a direct cremation, but what exactly is involved?
In simple terms, a direct cremation is where a funeral director collects the person who has died, places them into a simple coffin and subsequently takes them to the crematorium to be cremated. There is no service, no mourners present and the date for the cremation is generally chosen by the funeral director. It is considered to be the most cost-effective funeral option and the ashes can still be returned to the family afterwards if this is their wish.

Private reflection time
Since a direct cremation has no formal funeral, and with many funeral directors not providing visitation of the deceased, some family members may feel like they do not have the opportunity for closure or to properly say goodbye to their loved one.
With this in mind, Bennetts provides the opportunity for up to 12 family members to attend our specially prepared chapel of rest. We will supply up to twelve simple printed sheets with a choice of background, to include a picture of their loved one, a poem, and some additional closing words.
We also provide a system on which to play music, or family can bring their own. The closed and sealed coffin can be decorated with a simple artificial floral arrangement which can be loaned from us.
