Dying Matters Awareness Week 2024 encourages us to come together to talk about having those end of life conversations.
Every year, people around the country use Hospice UK’s Dying Matters Awareness Week as a moment to encourage communities to get talking in whatever way, shape or form works for them.
This year’s theme, ‘The way we talk about Dying Matters’, focuses on the language that we use, and conversations we have, around death and dying – specifically between healthcare professionals and patients, their carers and their families.
Join us for a community event on Friday 10th May
With events being held across the UK between the 6th and 12th of May, Bennetts Funeral Directors as part of the Ageing Well Group, are holding a marketplace style informal drop in on Friday 10th May between 10am and 1pm in St Thomas’s Church, Brentwood.
Enjoy free refreshments, holistic treatments and giveaways as well as speaking to local experts regarding matters such as funeral services, will writing, and caring for loved ones.
Would you like to book a stall?
If your organisation would like to be a part of this and support the event or to book a stall, please email Fr Mark North by 26th April.

Why it’s helpful to talk about death
Beginning to talk about dying takes courage and effort. But most people say it is a relief to talk about it openly and be direct and honest. It can bring people closer together when they talk honestly about death and share their fears and hopes.
